Daily Ponderings
Today I did a Twitch Stream - first time in about a year. I had to learn a few things to make it happen:
- I had to get Streamer.bot running on Linux
- I had to get the correct version of OBS Studio that supported the browser plugin
- I had to get Stremer.bot and OBS Studio talking
- I had to set up some Streamer.bot actions
- I had to setup my scenes in OBS
- I had to figure out (again) how to get my twitch chat displayed on my stream
- I created a Twitch bot account
- I had to play around with mic settings for noise suppression
- … and, so much more
Through the process I observed a few things. I noticed the differences in the process and individual software platforms that occurred naturally over the last year. But, more interestingly, I noticed I was going through a process of rediscovering skills and workflows that I had once taken for granted but had completely dumped from my memory.
I don’t think I really appreciate the ebb and flow of working knowledge.
Maybe some sort of accounting or recording of processes is necessary, but friction to documentation is probably the first barrier.
